Working on a new (old) squad

With the bikers done, I’m kind of at a pause with my Khorne Daemonkin army. I mean, I could work on a Chaos Rhino that would have colors uniform to the army (I usually just toss in my Black Legion-schemed Rhino when I need it). But I think it’s better just to take a break from them for now. No need to rush into burnout, right?

Instead, I’m going to work on some models that have been sitting patiently on the shelf for a while now. Given the rumors of what is coming out in the next few weeks, I’ve decided to work on a squad intended to beef up my Black Legion force.

Slow but steady progress

Well, it was an avalanche of real life that kept my painting to a minimum this week. That happens more than I’d like. Still, I was able to get some work done on my Khorne biker squad. Highlighting always seems to take the longest for me, just because I end up making more mistakes in that phase than any other phase of painting. That always means corrections, which are time consuming and really don’t advance the ball, so to speak. Anyway, here’s where we are:

My 40K origin story

There are a many ways folks get into Warhammer 40,000. Mine is probably pretty standard in the basic path. But like any path in life, the twists and turns are what makes it unique.

My first foray into hobby gaming began around the time I was in middle school with TSR products – the Marvel Superheroes RPG and Dungeons and Dragons. Around the same time, I got the old HeroQuest board game. My first miniatures war game experience came shortly after that introduction, as a couple of my gaming group friends were BattleTech fans. So I was already a gamer well before anything Warhammer-related was on my horizon.
